A downloadable game for Windows

Tails' Workshop is a Rhythm game mixed with a Tamagotchi.

Tails' Workshop is a rhythm game mostly based around taking care of  Miles "Tails" Prower. You start off with nothing but Tails' hands and access to a shady Black Market run by a mysterious Dark Chaos Chao. Perform well in rhythm minigames to earn rings to buy food and toys for Tails.

Current Features:

  • Tamagotchi-style hub area that can be upgraded with objects to passively earn rings or make earning rings easier to buy more food and toys for Tails.
  • 4 Rhythm-based scenes to play based on songs from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
  • Hand-drawn, frame-by-frame artstyle.

Planned Features:

  • More upgrades to the hub area such as new rooms for more features and more things for Tails to occupy himself with when you're not paying attention to him.
  • Character-based scenes involving Tails and another character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
  • A secret scene and character only available through a puzzle involving certain rooms and items.
  • Original remixes of each track featured in the scenes as I learn how to mix my own music for the game so I don't have to rely on rips for music.

I have a complaint about the minigames, it's that the beats of the songs feel off sync and that throws me off, any plan to fix that? Also the ring doubler doesn't seem to be working.

Sorry about the off-sync beats! Currently I'm mapping out each track manually purely from what I can hear when listening to them. Once I begin replacing songs with custom made remixes they will be FAR more accurate and will hopefully mesh with the gameplay a bit better!

As for the Ring Doubler not working, thank you for bringing that to my attention! I'll have it fixed by next update!

Would be cool to have another anal scene where we can see him cumming hands free

(+1)

Another couple anal scenes are planned so we'll get to see some hands-free cumming eventually!

You have somewhere like a date near the new update?

(1 edit)

I don't have any exact dates but it takes a few months from beginning to end of update development. Currently I'm plotting out how the next update will go since it's a little different to the last one.

But if I were to ballpark it, next major update might be released around January to February of next year. With smaller updates and tweaks between now and then.

Thank for taking your time and answering, another question, what is the lab for?

No worries! Happy to answer questions!

Currently the lab is just for the Mysterious Technology pieces that will be added through updates but will soon be home to more complicated and "technical" upgrades.

sorry for the bulk message but couldn't get words out well enough.

current throughts 10/2/25 v1.1.1. full experience

music does get wash rinse with the same scene over and over. might be nice to allow for select music and scenes seperately. have the song be the determing factor of difficulty as well? could be a means to fill content with mass of songs and difficulty. kinda front load the most the songs and difficulty that you may thing you want to add to the game. could be another shop tab option to give players more to buy as well. allows you to remix your songs at your own pace and set the diffuclty of the song.

possible means of controlling number of rings would be setting a multiple on the song and a value on the scene. first scene be worth xxx coins base value set per scene. the song green zone be 1x. and score of the multipler that effects the total. 1 for s rank 0.8 for A and so on. so a S rank on green hill first scene would be like 100 coins x 1 for song x 1 for rank giving 100 coins.

scenes/toys are fairly well made and animated. thumbs up. hitting to the beat isn't terribly hard but requires some consentration to get all perfect. the lube helps a lot.

Food/cleaniness/joy still feels off. may be a future update of having an auto feeder/a fridge tails can just feed himself when hunger gets low and don't have to baby the gauge as much. cleaniness well it can be 0 and just keep doing scenes and earning coins and not much of a thing to note. yes i understand joy is reduced but a few mint candy at very little cost and it doesn't matter. yes I understand tails needs to be cleaned and once you've done it a few dozen times it does get tiring to do like the repeating songs and may want to do the same by adding a deoderant, fur brush?, an invention tails makes to auto shower? end game? leading to maybe a system to collect pieces for tails to create things with?

coins/rings what ever calling the currency. food section fairly good for pricing lack variety but eary on doesn't matter chili dogs for days. upgrades are fairly well paced for what can be bought as you progress. toys mount I felt like could have been 800 instead of a 1000 for progression pacing but still works out for the pace depending on what the next toy/person()/key item for scenes.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and ideas! Making and balancing games can be very difficult so clear criticism is absolutely appreciated!

Being able to select the scene and music separately is really a good idea and is absolutely on the to-do list now.

The meters will definitely be a struggle for me to balance well, but I'll keep at it until they're fun to maintain! Having an autofeeder/autocleaner is another idea that is now on the list! As for cleanliness, I am definitely gonna rebalance the cleanliness meter to be both easier to maintain and have more negative effects for lower cleanliness.

I will most likely be doing another smaller price rebalance for 1.2.0 and will also probably be adding some more varied consumables that'll make Chilli Dogs less powerful.

Again, thank you for your thoughts! Got a lot of good ideas to consider and add for 1.2.0 now! Hopefully it'll not only be bigger than 1.1.0 but be better too!

virus detected in download for some reason.

(1 edit) (+1)

Yeah, for some reason solo .exe files, even in .Zip files, like this get flagged as virus' by most anti-virus programs. Just tell it to download anyway and it should be fine!

Would you consider adding an "auto-play" item in the future? Maybe just make it expensive or behind an achievement(unless it's already there and I'm dumb). It can be a bit difficult to enjoy the animations and actually do the rhythm game well.

There are plans for a "gallery" that will allow you to see the animations unobstructed and without gameplay in the future!

Sounds good. Looking forward to future updates!

have to applied for the re-indexing of the game yet?

know the whole thing was a huge mess and still is just was wondering.

Didn't even know this was happening! Thanks for letting me know!

was a weird update system that itch was using. not updating the orignal post but doing it through their side community posting.

Yeah, really weird to try to keep this under the radar by not making this a bigger announcement.

V1.01: works all good. mechanics worked all as I believe they were meant to. got most the achievements. still have 1 more achievements to get (s rank for rouge).

once the ring monitor has been purchased money and food isn't a real issue. enconomy could be raised the cost of things a lot when new items are added. 500 is only like 2 songs plus the ring monitor.

possible upgrade/purchaseables items:

increase to perfect range (ring, ribbon, tails device of some kind)

Happy to hear my fixes worked! Still new to the whole "updating and bug fixing the game" thing!

The Ring Monitor and the economy in it's current state are mainly the way they are so you don't have to replay the first scene more than like, 4 times. As more Toys and Upgrades get added I will be adjusting prices and making it more of a light balancing act, especially in tandem with other mechanics I plan to add to the Tamagotchi scenes.

And your idea for a new upgrade is actually already planned for the first major update alongside another upgrade!

Thank you for the feedback!

Although that's strange, the meter isn't supposed to go down until the first beat reaches about halfway through the bar, But it looks like Tails never even begins his main action animation before the rank screen comes up. seems like a bug I didn't get when playtesting. I'll check the code to make sure it still works even on other systems. (What song was playing before the results screen by the way? Emerald Hill Zone or Metropolis Zone? This pattern looks like the Metropolis Zone pattern but I could be wrong.)

I'll also make a proper tutorial so it's less ambigious and add some proper softlock prevention.

Thank you for your feedback again!

Look forward to playing it. sounds half like its like sonic adventure 2 chao garden with a little gameboy (tiny chao garden). Give you my feedback once I have given it a good playthrough

thank you! Hope the first release can serve as a good preview of what's to come! And yes, SA2's Chao Garden (and specifically the Chao Adventure minigame from the original DreamCast release) were pretty big inspirations!
