Tails' Workshop is a Rhythm game mixed with a Tamagotchi.

Tails' Workshop is a rhythm game mostly based around taking care of  Miles "Tails" Prower. You start off with nothing but Tails' hands and access to a shady Black Market run by a mysterious Dark Chaos Chao. Perform well in rhythm minigames to earn rings to buy food and toys for Tails.

Release Features:

  • Tamagotchi-style hub area that can be upgraded with objects to passively earn rings to buy more food and toys for Tails.
  • 2 Rhythm-based scenes to play based on songs from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
  • Hand-drawn, frame-by-frame artstyle.

Planned Features:

  • Atleast 3 more toys with new poses, songs and gimmicks.
  • More upgrades to the hub area such as new rooms for more features and more things for Tails to occupy himself with when you're not paying attention to him.
  • Other characters will sometimes visit Tails and if you perform well enough in a special minigame, they'll have a scene with him.
  • A secret scene and character only available through a puzzle involving certain rooms and items.
  • Less of a feature and more just making the game look pretty and less unfinished: Proper UI design and shading for all assets.
  • Original remixes of each track featured in the scenes as I learn how to mix my own music for the game so I don't have to rely on rips for music.

V1.01: works all good. mechanics worked all as I believe they were meant to. got most the achievements. still have 1 more achievements to get (s rank for rouge).

once the ring monitor has been purchased money and food isn't a real issue. enconomy could be raised the cost of things a lot when new items are added. 500 is only like 2 songs plus the ring monitor.

possible upgrade/purchaseables items:

increase to perfect range (ring, ribbon, tails device of some kind)

Happy to hear my fixes worked! Still new to the whole "updating and bug fixing the game" thing!

The Ring Monitor and the economy in it's current state are mainly the way they are so you don't have to replay the first scene more than like, 4 times. As more Toys and Upgrades get added I will be adjusting prices and making it more of a light balancing act, especially in tandem with other mechanics I plan to add to the Tamagotchi scenes.

And your idea for a new upgrade is actually already planned for the first major update alongside another upgrade!

Thank you for the feedback!

Although that's strange, the meter isn't supposed to go down until the first beat reaches about halfway through the bar, But it looks like Tails never even begins his main action animation before the rank screen comes up. seems like a bug I didn't get when playtesting. I'll check the code to make sure it still works even on other systems. (What song was playing before the results screen by the way? Emerald Hill Zone or Metropolis Zone? This pattern looks like the Metropolis Zone pattern but I could be wrong.)

I'll also make a proper tutorial so it's less ambigious and add some proper softlock prevention.

Thank you for your feedback again!

Look forward to playing it. sounds half like its like sonic adventure 2 chao garden with a little gameboy (tiny chao garden). Give you my feedback once I have given it a good playthrough

thank you! Hope the first release can serve as a good preview of what's to come! And yes, SA2's Chao Garden (and specifically the Chao Adventure minigame from the original DreamCast release) were pretty big inspirations!
